Pelosi’s Defense of Biden’s Age Will Only Backfire

If you haven’t heard, nearly everyone, even President Joe Biden’s most ardent supporters, is increasingly concerned about his age. After all, he is officially the oldest sitting commander-in-chief in US history.

But according to Pelosi, his age should be “embrace(d).”

During a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday, Pelosi told host Mika Brzezinski that no one should be worried about the aging Biden.

First of all, she noted that his age is proof that he has experiences and knowledge that few others do – and that’s all because of his many years on the job and his age.

She then admitted that the “leader on the other side is not much younger.” Naturally, she is referring to former President Donald Trump here, who is, indeed, only a few years Biden’s junior.

Pelosi then went on to say, “Age is a relative thing, and I think this country is very well served by his leadership,” even if Biden is a “kid” to Pelosi because he is younger than her.

Now, I’m not so sure about the insistence that Biden has served this country well or that his leadership has been good for us.

However, she is most definitely right about one thing. Age is most definitely relative.

And nothing makes that clearer than her bringing up Biden’s biggest competitor for the title of president in 2024.

As I mentioned before, Trump and Biden are not all that far apart when it comes to age. However, they couldn’t be more different when it comes to their work ethics, energy, and competency.

As the New York Times wrote about Biden last July, Sleepy Joe is “generally a five- or five-and-a-half-day-a-week president, although he is called at any hour regardless of the day as needed. He stays out of public view at night and has taken part in fewer than half as many news conferences or interviews as recent predecessors.”

Additionally, Axios reported that it is rather “difficult” to schedule just about anything, whether public or private, with the sitting president in the morning hours, the evening, or on the weekends. “The vast majority of Biden’s public events happen on weekdays, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.”

In fact, as former press secretary Jen Psaki once admitted, Biden “does nothing” at 9 a.m.

Compare that to Trump.

Trump’s former chief of staff and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director, Mick Mulvaney, once talked about his near “superhuman work” ethic.

In one instance, Mulvaney recounts how Trump stayed awake all night during a flight home from India and then proceeded to work through the entire next day. As Trump said when it was suggested he should get some rest, “I only have eight years; I want to get as much out of it as I possibly can.”

And this is by far not the only time Trump kept up such hours on behalf of the country and the work he promised to do.

Hell, even now, he’s still going a hundred miles an hour with no signs of slowing down. I mean, during his recent appearance at CPAC, he spoke for a whopping two hours – and it’s noted that he showed no signs of growing tired or needing a break.

On the other hand, Biden needs constant weekend vacations and can’t even remember where he is at times, let alone what his speech is supposed to be about.

Age sure is relative. And compared to Trump, Biden is a hundred years old.
