Music legend Lionel Richie’s quiet evening took a frightening turn just after midnight when an alarm system alerted him to a possible break-in at his Beverly Hills mansion. The 76-year-old singer acted quickly, calling police as surveillance cameras caught the brazen attempt. Authorities later arrested Michael John Bond, who was identified as the suspect.

TMZ reported that Richie credited his high-tech surveillance system for scaring off the would-be intruder before the situation escalated. The Hello crooner was unharmed, but the incident has added his name to the growing list of celebrities targeted by Los Angeles criminals.

Richie is far from alone. Actress Sophia Bush had her garage broken into, Sydney Sweeney called law enforcement after witnessing a break-in at her neighbor’s home, and model Daniela Braga lost over $1 million worth of property when thieves invaded her residence.

The list continues: Sarah Hyland’s home was nearly breached by masked men, Lee Byung-hun of Squid Game fame lost belongings in a burglary, Lena Waithe had over $200,000 in jewelry stolen, and Entourage star Kevin Connolly reported firearms and other valuables taken from his home.

Even Hollywood’s biggest names haven’t been spared. Keanu Reeves’s Hollywood Hills property was broken into, with a gun stolen. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion lost hundreds of thousands in valuables, and rocker Tommy Lee returned home to find his mansion “trashed.”

Comedian Arsenio Hall endured two attempted robberies while present inside his house. Kat Von D and actress Alexandra Daddario both faced armed suspects targeting their homes. And in one of the most chilling cases, actress Caylee Cowan awoke in 2022 to a home invader standing in her bedroom at 3 a.m.

For Richie, the attempted break-in serves as another reminder of the rampant lawlessness gripping Los Angeles. Once seen as a glamorous haven for the rich and famous, the city is now plagued by escalating burglaries and violent crime, leaving even the most high-profile residents vulnerable.

Though Richie was unharmed, the message couldn’t be clearer: no one is safe from the surge of crime overtaking Hollywood’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
