Dems Forced to Admit Trump’s Crime Crackdown Worked

When President Trump sent in the National Guard and surged federal law enforcement into Washington, D.C., critics on the left claimed it was unnecessary and political theater. But the numbers tell a different story — and even Bowser, a longtime Trump critic, can’t ignore them.
Since the crackdown began, authorities have made 1,170 arrests, including gang members and dozens of illegal aliens. On just one night, 84 people were arrested, 40 of them illegals. The results have been dramatic: carjackings are down an incredible 87% compared to the same 20-day period last year, while robberies, violent crime, and overall crime have all dropped significantly.
Bowser herself publicly admitted, “We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city. The most significant thing that we are highlighting today is the area of crime that was most troubling for us in 2023. Now, we have driven it down over the last years … but for carjackings, the difference between this period, this 20-day period of this federal surge, and last year represents an 87% reduction.”
She added, “We know that when carjackings go down, when the use of gun goes down, when homicide or robbery go down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer. So this surge has been important to us for that reason.”
Her acknowledgment is a stunning contrast to other Democrats, who continue to pretend Trump’s crime-fighting measures are unnecessary or even harmful. Some within the party have gone so far as to argue that crimes like carjacking don’t really matter to most Americans — a message that has fallen flat with voters across the political spectrum.
Polling shows overwhelming public support for Trump’s tough-on-crime approach, which has already delivered measurable improvements in the nation’s capital. While Democrat strategists warn against “taking the bait” by talking about migrant crime or carjackings, Bowser’s own city data shows that those issues matter very much to residents living with the daily threat of violence.
For Trump, the numbers are another win in his effort to restore order and safety in American cities plagued by rising crime under Democrat leadership. For Democrats, Bowser’s public praise is a glaring reminder that denying reality isn’t a strategy — and voters are watching closely as the 2026 midterms approach.
With even Democrat mayors admitting the truth, the contrast couldn’t be sharper: Trump delivers results, while his opponents cling to failed talking points.
