Biden Megadonor Gives to Trump GOP Rival

It should come as no surprise that Democratic megadonors are very much about supporting whoever will get their man, Joe Biden, reelected – even if that happens to be a Republican.

If you’re wondering how that works, it’s pretty simple, if not backward.

Take Barry Diller, for instance. Diller is a multi-billionaire, founder of Fox Broadcasting Group and USA Broadcasting, and senior executive for IAC and Expedia Group. As such, he has no problem shelling out large amounts to candidates he believes will ensure a Biden win.

Naturally, that means he’s already donated more than $100,000 to the Biden campaign.
But it also means he’s donated the maximum amount to a presidential GOP candidate who he’d rather oppose Biden than Trump: Chris Christie, former governor of New Jersey. So far, Christie’s campaign has received $50,000 from Diller.

To be clear, this is not a new strategy.

Wealthy Democrat supporters, in fact, used this at great length in 2022, putting hundreds of thousands of dollars toward what they deemed as weaker Republican candidates in the hopes that those weaker candidates would win the GOP primaries and then be easier to defeat in the general election.

However, it’s not a trend that always works.

In 2022, for example, Dems contributed a whopping $53.3 million to 13 different Republican primaries. But less than half of those candidates ended up winning.
Diller’s 2024 efforts are likely to end up very much the same.

I mean, he’s pretty much throwing his money away if he’s choosing to put it behind a guy like Chris Christie. According to most polls, only a measly amount (17 percent) of Republican-leaning voters view Christie positively.

And even fewer (2.7 percent) would choose him to win the GOP nomination, according to RealClearPolitics.

So much for stopping Trump, huh?
