Trump Torches CNN Over Iran Strike Coverage

President Trump didn’t hold back Tuesday morning as he unleashed a blistering tirade against CNN and MSNBC, accusing both networks of deliberately downplaying the U.S. military’s successful airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Standing on the White House lawn before boarding Marine One, Trump called CNN “gutless losers” and “scum,” hammering them for their coverage of what he has repeatedly described as a “spectacular military success.”
“You’re gutless losers,” Trump said. “I say that to CNN because I watch it. I have no choice. I’ve gotta watch that garbage. It’s all garbage. It’s all fake news.”
The president’s fury was sparked by what he claimed was media skepticism over whether the U.S. airstrikes had truly devastated Iran’s nuclear program. Over the weekend, the U.S. deployed B-2 stealth bombers to deliver massive 30,000-pound bunker-busting bombs on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—three key components of Iran’s nuclear enrichment program. Trump administration officials have hailed the mission as a resounding success, and intelligence analysts are already saying it’s likely set back Tehran’s nuclear ambitions by years.
Trump reiterated that message to reporters: “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. That place is demolished,” he said. “The B-2 pilots did their job. They did it better than anybody could even imagine.”
But rather than celebrate the achievement, Trump accused CNN of casting doubt on the effectiveness of the mission. “When I see CNN, all night long, they’re trying to say, ‘Well, maybe it wasn’t really as demolished as we thought.’ It was demolished,” Trump said emphatically.
In a pointed challenge, he demanded that mainstream media outlets apologize to the pilots involved in the high-risk mission. “CNN ought to apologize to the pilots of the B-2s. MSDNC [MSNBC] ought to apologize. These cable networks are real losers. You really are,” he said.
He went even further, targeting network executives by name. “And the people that run it—nobody even knows, it’s been sold so many times,” Trump added, referring to CNN’s leadership. “MSDNC – a guy named Brian Roberts – he heads it. He’s a disgrace. He’s a weak, pathetic disgrace.”
Neither CNN nor MSNBC responded to Trump’s comments at the time of reporting.
Trump’s comments come as a ceasefire appears to be taking hold in the Middle East following the intense flare-up between Israel and Iran. His administration’s rapid and overwhelming military response has been widely credited with de-escalating the conflict, despite attempts by legacy media outlets to cast doubt on its impact.
With election season heating up, Tuesday’s press scrum offered a preview of the aggressive posture Trump is likely to maintain—not only toward foreign adversaries but toward domestic media institutions he sees as hostile to his agenda. And for now, he’s putting the press on notice: criticize the troops, and you’ll get torched.
