Harris’s Brother-In-Law Puts Hunter to Shame

Americans following the Hunter Biden debacle will be pleased to know that if Kamala Harris is elected, the nation’s highest-level corruption can continue unchecked.

If Harris becomes President, her brother-in-law, Tony West, who is married to her sister Maya, will take over Hunter Biden’s job as the dirtiest presidential family member ever.

Like Hunter Biden, West got his start working with the Obama administration.

Before 1977, Congress had to approve any settlement over $100,000 to ensure it controlled the government’s money. But in 1977, Congress changed the rule, allowing the Justice Department to pay any amount they wanted from a secret account called the Judgment Fund, which is handled through the treasury.

The information released is basic and doesn’t include details about who received the money, the case, or the lawyers’ names. By law, they don’t have to share how much money was given to lawyers. A study by the Government Accountability Office found that no one knows how many claims the federal government handles each year.

In 2009, West took charge of the Civil Division, which handles lawsuits and settlements. When he started, his deputy asked how to use some money to help a chosen organization. Under West, settlements began to benefit political allies.

For instance, in late 2010, after winning a big case against discrimination claims from 91 Hispanic and female farmers, West stepped in and made a surprising change. The Department of Justice agreed to a $1.33 billion settlement that included many farmers who hadn’t claimed any discrimination. This deal was made despite strong objections from the department’s experienced lawyers.

The Times’s report said West’s settlement plan was like a runaway train driven by racial politics and law firms looking to make over $130 million in fees. The settlement grew to more than $4.4 billion as more plaintiffs, including Native American farmers, were added. The government’s expert thought this was a bad deal and believed the government would have won if they had gone to court. The deal seemed like a way to buy support from Native Americans.

The settlement also resulted in a $60 million bonus for the leading lawyer on the Obama/Biden team.

In addition to taking money from taxpayers, West pressured banks to make nearly a billion dollars to groups supporting Democrats.

An email suggested building a statue of West and honoring it every day after getting over $200,000. The California attorney general at the time, Kamala Harris, was involved in agreeing to these deals for her state.

The Biden-Harris Administration used similar tactics to benefit their political friends at taxpayers’ expense.

In 2021, there was a billion-dollar settlement proposed for illegal immigrants claiming emotional distress. It was stopped after people complained, but the Department of Justice still agreed to pay the ACLU lawyers’ fees.

The Department of Justice agreed to pay $2 million to FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. They complained that their anti-Trump texts, sent from government phones with warnings about privacy, were released to Congress.

The DOJ could have fought this case longer before paying the money. This kind of issue isn’t limited to one political party.

When President Trump started his term, his Attorney General banned certain settlement payments. But the Biden-Harris DOJ later removed that ban.

If you’re not worried about his financial corruption, take a look at his history of supporting the Taliban.

As an attorney, West defended the infamous “American Taliban” John Walker Lindh. In fact, that case was the start of his legal career.

Lindh had left the U.S. to get training from Osama bin Laden and fight for the Taliban in Afghanistan. In November 2001, the U.S. military caught him. He was charged with serious crimes, including helping al Qaeda and plotting with the Taliban to kill Americans.

In 2022, West, working at a law firm in San Francisco, took Lindh’s case and tried to get George W. Bush’s administration to overturn his prison sentence. In an interview with the Washington Post, West defended Lindh, saying he was not a terrorist and didn’t go to Afghanistan to kill Americans.

West and his team arranged a deal for Lindh, which gave him a maximum 20-year prison sentence. In this deal, Lindh admitted to helping the Taliban and carrying an explosive while committing a crime. He ended up serving 17 years out of the 20-year sentence.

He is slated to take on a key position in the Harris administration, bringing his unique brand of corruption and support of terrorists directly to the White House.

Move over, Hunter. Tony West makes you yesterday’s news.
