What is it with Republican politicians and cowardice? Whenever they get into power, they simply refuse to wield power on behalf of their own voters. As just one example, why wasn’t Obamacare repealed when the GOP had the chance in 2017 and 2018? A more recent example comes from North Dakota. Despite Republicans having massive supermajorities in the House and Senate, and a Republican governor, they can’t get hardly anything done on behalf of GOP voters.
Most people don’t realize this, but North Dakota is sort of like the anti-California, at least on paper. We always hear about the Democrats’ massive supermajorities in the California legislature. Yet in North Dakota, Republicans hold an 84 to 12 supermajority in the House, and a 43 to 4 supermajority in the Senate.
It’s the reddest state imaginable on paper. Yet, according to an analysis of how the Republicans are voting, 45 of the 84 Republicans in the House vote with the 12 Democrats more often than with the conservatives. This is pathetic and absurd.
North Dakota is so red on paper that abortion should be completely illegal with zero exceptions. Divorce should be illegal except in cases of provable domestic violence. Gun ownership should be required in every household. Yet more than 50 percent of Republicans vote with the Democrats more than 50 percent of the time.
The voters are demanding deep red, conservative governance, but the politicians are refusing to deliver it. Every single one of them should be primaried next year by the most extreme MAGA conservatives that can be found. It’s inexcusable that even when the voters show up to give the GOP a huge majority like this one, they still stab their constituents in the back. Primary. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.
