Omar Faces Challenger Who Barely Lost in 2022 – and Things Have Changed…

Of course, ‘squad’ member and liberal Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar is running for reelection in 2024. The good news, she isn’t the only one running for her position. And one individual just might be able to unseat her.

Introducing former Democratic Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels.

Unless you’re from the Minneapolis area, the name is probably not all that familiar to you. Then again, maybe it is.

After all, this isn’t the first time he’s run to represent Omar’s constituents. And the last time he did so, he nearly beat her out of office.

Naturally, this was in 2022, her first reelection campaign, and the point at which most began to thoroughly realize just how problematic she is as a national leader.

Just as Samuels noted in 2022 when he first ran against her, he believes Omar is divisive. As such, he believes his city needs a more “moderate” option.

As I mentioned above, Samuels is still a Democrat, but in Minneapolis, this is hardly a rarity. Like other liberal strongholds such as New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, being a Democrat is pretty much a prerequisite for running.

In fact, as the Associated Press pointed out, there is only one GOP member running. And the only real reason she, Dalia Al-Aqidi, has any real shot is that she’s 1) a woman and 2) ‘of color’; at least, that’s all that matters to the political left.

But I digress…

For Samuels, Omar has always been a problem. As he told the AP, she “has a predilection to divisiveness and conflict.” He added that she has also “frightened the Jewish community.” And in a time such as this, that definitely means something.

In fact, this might just be the reason that Samuels wins this go-round.

As I mentioned, it’s not as though he did poorly last time. In fact, he ended up with 48.2 percent of the vote in 2022. Compared to Omar’s 50.3 percent, it means his defeat was nearly a win.

And now, with the atmosphere surrounding antisemitism (which Omar is known to promote) much more mainstream, Samuels will likely find favor over Omar.
