It’s no longer possible to just watch a movement for its entertainment value. It’s all about the culture that you may be accepting by watching a movie simply because of who is in it.

To be sure, Barbie is going to be an epic blockbuster hit this summer because of Margot Robbie playing Barbie and Ryan Gosling playing Ken.

Matt Gaetz (R-FL) decided to see the movie with a few other lawmakers at the British Embassy this past Monday. It didn’t take long before he was attacked on Twitter for his part in it all.

Why? Well, one of the characters, Doctor Barbie, is played by a trans actor. At this point, you may be asking, “So, what?” That’s what you should be asking. With the LGBTQ community as prevalent as it is, it would be nearly impossible to avoid watching a show or movie simply because of a trans actor (or a gay one or a bisexual one or…)

Mindy Lafevers tweeted at Gaetz to say, “Wonder why we can’t win culture wars? Republicans love being included with the rich and famous too much.”

That’s quite the bold call-out considering all that the Obamas were responsible for – they loved rubbing elbows with the rich and famous more than any other politician. And AOC is right on their heels for the attention of celebrities.

Gaetz had the ultimate comeback: “If you let the trans stop you from seeing Margo Robbie….the terrorists win…”

Still, there are others who are furious that the Republican lawmaker saw the movie because of the presence of a trans actor in it.

So, if we’re supposed to play along with this culture war, you might as well forget about going to the movies. Go ahead and delete your Netflix account. And don’t even think about watching anything on Disney.

Then again, you could just go watch the Barbie movie because it represents everything from your childhood.

If you’re not going to see the movie, at least have a laugh at this review:
