Biden and his administration would love for you to believe that “Bidenomics” is a huge success, particularly as we head into 2024 and its presidential election. But if that’s the case, why is Georgia declaring a state of emergency due to the economy?
In an official news release, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s office has stated that the economy is in a pretty bad place, putting hard-working Georgians in a tough spot. And so, Kemp is issuing a state emergency, which allows him the power to temporarily suspend gas taxes in the state.
“As part of this declaration, (Kemp) is temporarily suspending the state’s excise tax on motor and locomotive fuel to provide direct relief to families throughout the state.”
The tax break went into effect on Wednesday and will continue through October 12.
Now, it’s important to point out that this is not the first time Kemp has declared such. He did pretty much the same thing back in March of 2022 through December. It is estimated that it saved the state’s residents “roughly $1.7 billion at the pump,” according to the news release.
This go-round, it’s likely to save even more. About 31.2 cents per gallon will be saved for gasoline and 35 cents per gallon for diesel fuel.
In a separate news release, Kemp blamed Biden for why the economy is doing so poorly, mentioning his penchant for spending far too much on unnecessary agenda items and hamstringing our energy industry here at home. And since Biden clearly has no plans in mind to limit those bad decisions, Kemp is taking matters into his own hands.
And as “economic headwinds caused by this president, his administration, and their allies in Congress” continue, Kemp promises to keep working on solutions for Georgia and her citizens.
