To say there is some tension between Democratic President Joe Biden and the Democratic Mayor of New York City is putting it rather mildly. In fact, during a recent visit to NYC, Mayor Adams appeared to have snubbed the aging president multiple times.
Politico reported that Biden was recently in the Big Apple for the United Nations’ opening week. He was scheduled to meet with several world leaders, as well as address the international organization.
Naturally, it made sense for Biden to also do a little fundraising for his 2024 presidential campaign while in town. One such event was a reception at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As the outlet pointed out, Mayor Eric Adams was invited to this and several other fundraising events Biden was to appear at.
Yet, Adams didn’t attend a single one.
Now, why would a man who just last year called himself the “Biden of Brooklyn” and is a lifelong Democrat not want to be around or have much to do with his party’s beloved leader?
And no, it’s not just because he couldn’t make his undoubtedly busy schedule fit those appearances in. After all, this is the president of the United States we’re talking about. The leader of the free world – you know, the kind of leader you make time for.
Yet, Adams basically refused to be seen with the man, and on more than one occasion.
Let’s just say it all comes down to Biden’s open border policies.
As we all know, before Biden was even elected as either the US president or the Democratic nominee, he issued a worldwide invitation to everyone (and yes, I mean everyone) to come to the US and make a new life for themselves. And as was expected, soon after assuming his new role in the Oval Office, he followed through on that promise – one of the only ones we can say about.
Before we knew it, border wall construction had been ordered to a halt, Trump-era policies keeping illegal immigration in check were rolled back, and incoming migrants were allowed to waltz through our open borders without so much as a COVID test despite us being stuck at the height of the COVID pandemic.
At first, Biden supporters and open border pushers such as Eric Adams himself were fine with it, even endorsing such drastic policy changes. After all, New York City is a Democratic stronghold built on immigration, right? So hardcore Dems would pretty much have to back such plans.
But as the years have progressed and the crisis now existing at our Southern border has only worsened, it’s not just border towns and states seeing the immediate effects of those policies.
Thanks to no-nonsense GOP leaders like Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Florida heavy hitter Ron DeSantis, buses of incoming migrants have since been transported from overwhelmed border communities to “sanctuary” cities like NYC, Chicago, and Washington, DC.
As a result, those cities have become incredibly even more congested. Crime has increased, homelessness has skyrocketed, and community resources have been effectively drained.
Adams isn’t too fond of seeing his once-great city deteriorate further. And so, he’s taken the issue straight to the root of the problem, Biden’s White House. Of course, it’s worth noting that doing so definitely makes Adams a hypocrite or a turncoat.
In recent months, he’s thrown shade directly at Biden, demanding that the border crisis be finally put to bed as it is “destroy(ing) New York City.”

However, as usual, Biden and his cronies aren’t listening.
Instead, it’s simply caused some nearly palpable tension between Biden and Adams, enough so that Politico reported it would just be easier for the two to avoid each other at all costs – hence, Adams’s refusal to attend Biden events in his city.
Classic Dem move, huh? Just ignore it until it can’t be anymore.
Thanks to the 2024 election, I think Biden is about to realize the border can no longer be ignored.
